Isn’t it funny to be new again…and again…with every new day and new experience we can find ourselves right back at the beginning of something. The caveat being that we must choose this perspective, of course. Well, this is my new beginning. Welcome.
I’m a full-time songwriter and have been in the music industry for over 20 years now, having started my journey at 7 years old in a family band. More on that later. Songwriting, like any creative line of work, has many pros and cons but overall has proven to be a predominantly fulfilling dream job. I feel so lucky in this lifetime to be able to help others share their experiences and to get to express my own in various forms. It is through storytelling that we learn, evolve, laugh, heal, and ultimately contribute our own thumbprint to the tapestry of our collective human history.
All of this being said, I’ve avoided more long form (public) writing like this newsletter for so long because I’ve thought to myself - who cares what I have to say? Why me? More recently, however, it’s transitioned to — why not me? If no one reads this, then great. I’ll still get to shout into the void and get some thoughts out of my head. If someone reads this, then great. Hopefully it’ll resonate in ways I could have never imagined. But either way, the best part is that there’s nothing to lose. I am a perpetual *new kid* who’s figuring it all out as she goes and I have a feeling that there are other new kids out there too.
So, every Monday I’ll be highlighting some aspect of human emotion and my experience with it thus far; from grief to joy to imposter syndrome and everything in-between. I’ll share some of my faves to follow (F2F) across all platforms, weekly general astrology/energy updates, new recipes, recent purchases I’m loving (with links to all items) and more. Though next week’s newsletter will more accurately reflect what will be showing up here/in your inbox for the foreseeable future, I wanted to begin this endeavor with a more general, explanatory welcome message.
If you’re still reading, I thank you for taking the time to do so. Let this be a sign, from one new kid to another, to take the creative leap — whether anyone is watching or not.
